Founder & Expert Commercial Finance Broker at Smart Business Plans
I'm a specialist commercial finance broker with 16 years of experience helping Australian business owners access commercial property finance. As founder of Smart Business Plans, I've overseen $550 million in commercial finance across more than 3,300 clients, with a 92% approval rate working across a panel of 60+ specialist lenders. My expertise sits at the intersection of commercial property, business finance, and wealth strategy — particularly for small to medium business owners looking to buy their own premises, invest through their SMSF, or fund development projects. I work exclusively in the commercial space, which means I specialise where the major banks often can't or won't go. I'm also the author of The Premise Effect (2026), which makes the case for why Australian business owners are leaving millions on the table by renting rather than owning their business premises. I'm available to comment on: commercial property finance, SMSF borrowing, business lending, commercial mortgage rates, Australian property market trends, and small business wealth building.

Financial Planner at Austin Creek Capital
When people ask why I became a financial planner and started Austin Creek Capital, I think about the part-time job I had when I was a student at UC-Berkeley in the late 1990s. I worked for a website publisher who landed a contract to build a personal finance website for Microsoft. My job? To build a database of personal finance questions and answers.Like most 20-year-olds, I knew very little about personal finance, so I went to a local bookstore, found the business section, and bought a big stack of books about investing, saving, tax optimization, and home buying. I read them all and was intrigued. Yes, I could use this knowledge to build the Q&A database for Microsoft, but more importantly, I realized, this kind of knowledge could help people build better lives. Life went on. I finished my degree in political science and started a new career in information technology with Charles Schwab. I learned a lot, and I enjoyed my work supporting Schwab’s financial advisors. I kept getting promoted, and Schwab kept growing, spreading out from its Bay Area roots. By 2019, I was managing employees who were thousands of miles away from my office. I’d spent two decades with Schwab by this time, and I was starting to feel like I needed a change. But a change to what? As I considered new career paths, something occurred to me: When friends or family needed financial advice, I was the person they usually asked. I liked this role. I liked helping people weigh their options as they tried to meet their goals. And, of course, this reminded me of that part-time job I had in college, two decades earlier, which sparked my initial interest in finance. Along with this, I’d also become a husband, and then a father during this time of transition. With a new family at home, the idea of owning my own business was appealing. And so began Austin Creek Capital, in 2021. My firm takes its name from Northern California’s Austin Creek, which flows through land that’s been home to several generations of my family. Like its namesake, Austin Creek Capital seeks to be a constant for our clients. We work to provide a source of financial guidance our clients can count on to make the best decisions for their future.Ready to talk about building your best financial future? CEO/Founder at Equipment Leases
I founded Commercial Funding Partners in 2012 with a clear mission: build a performing portfolio of customers who return because we treat them right and help them grow responsibly. After six years at a competitor and seeing how customers were often handled at deal end, I knew there was a better way to do business in commercial equipment finance. We’re a national direct lender with capacity from $250,000 to over $100 million per project, serving manufacturers, contractors, healthcare providers, transportation companies, and others across the U.S. What sets us apart is speed paired with judgment. Our small, senior-level finance committee allows us to make decisions quickly—often the same day—and months faster than SBA processes, where time value often outweighs minor rate differences. We listen to the story behind the balance sheet and underwrite context, not just numbers. We structure real-world solutions through progress funding, 100% project financing, sale-leasebacks, and tax-aware terms that banks often can’t provide. We don’t do deals we wouldn’t sign ourselves. Over 40% of our business comes from repeat clients, many with long-standing relationships that improve with each transaction. I’m active in industry leadership with ELFA, NEFA, and AACFB, where I chaired the Education Committee for four years and received the President’s Award. Before CFP, I worked at IBM and helped manage and grow Plumbers Supply Company through its acquisition by Wolseley. I hold a BS from the University of Utah and an MBA from Westminster College. Our goal is simple: be the first call for our customers and help great businesses grow smarter and faster.

Founder at CalcFi
Jere Salmisto is the founder of CalcFi, a free personal-finance calculator platform where every formula traces to a primary public source — IRS publications, Federal Reserve series, Treasury tables, Bureau of Labor Statistics, CFPB and HUD. He also runs Autonomatica, a studio building quantitative-automation systems, backtesting pipelines and rule-based decision tools. Before CalcFi he was CEO at Topair Nordic (industrial sales and operations) and led B2B commercial execution across multiple companies. That operator background shapes how he writes about finance: numbers must reproduce by hand, sources are cited on the page, and tools are free forever. Available for commentary on consumer finance, paycheck/tax/mortgage math, retirement planning, systematic trading logic, finance-tool usability, and anything business and motivation-related. Finnish/Estonian founder commenting on published IRS, CFPB, Fed, and BLS primary sources. Not a licensed US CPA or tax attorney.

Financial Advisor/Certified Financial Planner at Town Square Wealth Management and Consulting
I have worked in the financial services industry since 2011, holding a variety of roles across both large institutions and boutique firms. My experience includes working with major organizations such as State Street Bank and Morgan Stanley, as well as smaller, independently owned firms. In 2024, I left Morgan Stanley to become a partner at Town Square Wealth Management & Consulting. Town Square Wealth Management & Consulting is a locally owned boutique firm focused on providing comprehensive financial planning and advice to business owners and recent retirees. In addition to holding the CFP® designation, I am a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), helping business owners prepare for and navigate the eventual sale of their businesses. I strongly believe that thoughtful planning is the foundation of every successful client relationship. After working within large corporate environments, I came to believe that serving hundreds of clients at once does not allow for the level of care and attention clients deserve. Our firm is intentionally structured to remain highly personal, allowing us to deliver focused, meaningful guidance rather than operating as a high-volume practice.
Founder & Wealth Advisor at Proper Planning & Wealth Management
I founded my firm to help families and business owners make confident financial decisions, without the confusion, pressure, or one-size-fits-all advice that too often dominates this industry. Before entering wealth management over a decade ago, I founded and operated a successful software company in Overland Park. Running a business taught me how systems really work: cash flow, risk, tradeoffs, and the consequences of decisions made today that don’t show up until years later. That perspective still shapes how I approach financial planning: structured, consultative, and focused on solving real problems for my clients. We work with clients on comprehensive wealth management, retirement planning, and employer-sponsored retirement plans, including 401(k) and other qualified plans for small and mid-sized businesses. Early in my career I recognized the importance of constant improvement and learning. I hold the ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant®), CRPC® (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor®) and CRPS® (Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist®) designations through the College for Financial Planning. More importantly, I believe good advice starts with listening. Every client’s situation is different, and effective planning requires understanding your goals, values, and preferences, not just numbers on a page.

Founder at Carval Financial Wellness
Hi, I’m Carolina Valderrama-Baker, the founder of Carval Financial Wellness. Before starting Carval Financial Wellness, I spent 15 years at Freddie Mac, where I trained professionals nationwide, developed financial education programs in English and Spanish, and partnered with lenders, nonprofits, and real estate companies to support first-time homebuyers and expand access to financial education. My work also included national advocacy - appointed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury - appearing on radio and TV to help families during the foreclosure crisis and promoting programs that made homeownership and financial knowledge more accessible. During my tenure at Freddie Mac, I received many accolades and in 2024, I was honored to receive the Latina of Influence Award by Hispanic Lifestyle for my work in the community and excellence in service. My inspiration for starting Carval Financial Wellness comes from a lifelong passion for teaching personal finance and witnessing how deeply money impacts people’s confidence, stress levels, and overall well-being. Even with a strong educational foundation in my own family, I saw early on that financial education is not universal—and that so many people, regardless of background, simply never receive the guidance they need to feel secure and empowered with their money. Throughout my career, the moments that fulfilled me most were the ones spent teaching, simplifying complex topics, and helping someone realize they could take control of their finances. Over the years, I became driven to create a space where financial wellness felt personal, compassionate, and accessible. That passion is what led me to launch Carval: a mission-driven business where I combine expertise, education, and empathy to help people reduce stress, build confidence, and transform their financial lives. Today, I bring all of that experience into my coaching - helping individuals, families, and employees reduce financial stress, make informed decisions, and achieve financial stability and success. By combining expertise, empathy, and cultural understanding, I guide my clients toward lasting financial well-being.

Financial Planner at NextGen Wealth
Hi, I'm Clint Haynes, Founder and President of NextGen Wealth. I am married to my best friend, Christa, and we had our first child, Harper, on my 40th birthday (the best gift I could ever get!). We love food, craft beer, and traveling. You can count on us hitting up a few of the local delicacies & breweries on just about every vacation. I also love golf, and as I write this, my goal is to get to a single-digit handicap, although I think it might be getting worse. 😔 So, now that you know a little about personal and fun stuff, let’s get to know a little bit more about me professionally and how I got to where I am today. I’ve been in the financial planning and financial services industry since 2001. It’s all I’ve ever known as a career choice, and I hope it stays that way for as long as I’m capable. After being in the industry for a few years, it became quite apparent to me that there was really no difference between financial services firms – they all basically did the exact same thing. With that in mind, I pursued and earned my CFP certification. Becoming a Certified Financial Planner allowed me to launch NextGen Wealth, where I focus on adding deep value to your financial journey. I’m especially passionate about helping clients navigate the shift from their working years into a fulfilling retirement. Through our patented COLLAB Financial Planning Process, we develop solutions in every area of your financial life so that you can go into retirement with confidence, knowing that it will be fulfilling, purpose-driven, and meaningful, all laid out in a way that actually makes sense and will get you even more excited about the next stage in your life. For more than 10 years, NextGen Wealth has been dedicated to delivering a massive return on investment for our clients. Our impact is backed by data and industry accolades: we were honored as a Top 50 Investment Adviser in 2024 and recognized as a leading Grandview Financial Planner for 2025, achieving a 95% quality score for our service standards. If this sounds like the type of financial advisor you want to work with, then let us help you create a plan for your life after work and explore ways to find fulfillment in your golden years. I want to ensure that this final third of your life is everything you’ve always dreamed of (and more) while also providing you with the emotional and behavioral support that comes with transitioning into retirement.
