Before GeoTapp there was event security, and with it the ritual every field worker knows by heart: write down the date, the start, the end, the total, then send the monthly figure up the chain. Mine rarely added up, partly my own fault, because humans are unreliable at boring and machines are magnificent at it. Every app on offer wanted the same chore with nicer buttons, so the tool got built instead: one tap to start, one to stop, the hours landing on the boss's desk on their own. From there GeoTapp became time-tracking for field teams that certifies the work actually done, with geolocation only at clock-in and clock-out, never the continuous surveillance people picture.
