I started my career in FP&A, studying marketing and finance in college, then spending years in spreadsheets at companies like Zayo Group. I was good at the work. But I knew I didn't want to stay on the corporate track forever. In October 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, I quit my job at Deloitte to go find a small business to buy. Most people thought I was out of my mind. I found Affordable Flooring Warehouse in Steamboat Springs, bought it in early 2021, and knew almost nothing about flooring. I figured it out the hard way. Made mistakes, put one foot in front of the other, and eventually grew the business into the largest flooring operation in Steamboat. We completed over 1,500 jobs before I sold it in late 2024.
