An expert on music in anime, examples of research that I have conducted to date include the use of Japanese-style music in contemporary shōnen anime and an analysis of how music contributes to the feeling of nostalgia in anime. I am currently researching the representations of musical culture in anime soundtracks as a PhD research student at the University of Bristol. This is under the supervision of Dr Rayna Denison, whose work includes Anime: A Critical Introduction (Bloomsbury Academic 2015) and Studio Ghibli: An Industrial History (2023), and Professor Justin A.
