Jay Johannigman

Dr. Jay Johannigman is a Cincinnati trauma and critical care surgeon who has returned home to serve the region that shaped his career. After 46 years in military medicine, he retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a colonel in 2025 and is now focused on strengthening Cincinnati's emergency preparedness and injury care. For much of his career, Dr. Johannigman was a defining figure in Cincinnati medicine. As Trauma Medical Director and Chief of the Institute of Military Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, he helped build one of the region's most advanced trauma and acute care programs.
