Nagourney Cancer Institute (formerly Rational Therapeutics) has pioneered the use of human tumor primary cultures for the study of drug actions and drug synergy. Using Functional Profiling to conduct Ex Vivo Analyses of Programmed Cell Death (EVA/PCD), this platform has been shown, in the peer reviewed literature, to correlate significantly with patient response, time to progression and survival. EVA/PCD analyses have also accurately identified many of the today's most widely used cancer therapies, including purine-alkylator therapies for lymphatic malignances and the wide use of platin-gemcitabine based therapies in breast, ovary and GI malignancies.
