Dr. Prashant Singh PhD

Dr. Prashant Singh is an Associate Professor at Florida State University (FSU) and a food safety microbiologist by training, with his core area of research focus on the development of rapid methods for the detection of foodborne pathogens. His laboratory focuses explicitly on developing methods for the specific detection of virulent strains of Shiga toxin-producing non-O157 Escherichia coli and Salmonella. His second area of research interest is the development of rapid methods for seafood species identification. As a scientific advisor to SeaD Consulting, Dr. Singh developed an assay standardized in a study that “showed 100% sensitivity and specificity” for confirming the identity of shrimp.
