Soul injury is defined as a spectrum of wounds that range from insidious to traumatic, that separate us from our personhood by shrinking our sense of inner goodness/beauty and creating a haunting sense of feeling defective. As a Nurse Practitioner and Director of the Hospice Program with the Department of Veterans Affairs for 30 years, I took care of 10,000 dying veterans. Dying veterans know something the rest of us don’t - they have a wisdom about Soul Injury that needs to be shared with the world.
