Dareen Basma

Dr. Dareen Basma is the Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives & Student Success at Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Dareen Basma is an educator, researcher, and clinician whose work centers on social advocacy, institutional transformation, and community engagement. Her career bridges practice and strategy, with a focus on building systems that foster belonging, well-being, and equitable opportunity in higher education. Dr. Basma is from the Middle East, and moved to the U.S. to pursue her education. She received both her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Religious Studies, and her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Florida.
