Austin Fernald

Austin Fernald is a San Rafael–based California Certified Residential Appraiser (license AR3002942) and the founder of RealVals, an independent appraisal practice he started in 2016. Appraising since 2012 and licensed since 2015, he has written more than 3,000 appraisal reports, most of them in San Francisco and Marin County. He specializes in date-of-death, estate and trust, and gift tax appraisals for executors, trustees, attorneys, and CPAs, and also handles divorce, property tax appeal, and retrospective assignments. He inspects every property and writes every report himself, and he publishes plain-English guides on how Bay Area homes are valued for tax and legal purposes.
